Between 1998-1999, Shoko joined PETA (Philippine Educational Theater Association) as an intern where she observed a number of workshops and performed in their productions. After she came back to Japan, she worked at a theatre, then joined Arts Council Tokyo (Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture) as the first Programme Officer. She worked there from 2012 to 2017 in managing funding programmes (in theatre and inclusive arts) and operating research. She also launched the ‘Research Group for Disabilities and Performing Arts’ and was involved in networking for arts organisations and project-managing for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Since 2018, Shoko works as an performing arts advisor for the inclusive society and as a funding consultant.
